There's still a lot of caste fighting on, there is
Juby John Eipe
I see it everyday. You should visit the villages and the northern part of India. Kerala is better of in this regard.
Jeejan C Korah
Ok we will do that next time when we visit Inda.
Juby John Eipe
People don't ve access to public wells, roads and temples jus because they are from a 'lower' caste. People are murdered for marrying from other castes. Welcome to 21st century India.
Juby John Eipe
A separate cemetery for 'low caste' christians of the same parish. Recent story from tamil nadu
Juby John Eipe
Even in Kerala, food is served on separate plates (which will not be used by the family members) to servants (read low caste) in many households. Caste system is very much here
Viji Varghese Eapen
Juby, you are in right direction. But, why this ' delayed'
change?
Juby John Eipe
Change was happening. Recent exposure forced me to voice it out on fb
Blessy Joseph
i just cant believe this
Anna Varghese
Good one Juby..go ahead .:)
Anna Varghese
I just attended two major conferences in these two months discussing the issue of caste..its a lot complex, intrinsic and much debated category in the academic circles these days. Interestingly there is a distinct distinction made out btwn caste and religion, its all pervasiveness and impacts of caste on socio politico economic psyche of the masses. Burning issue which needs to b attended and addressed with care.
Juby John Eipe
Blessy Joseph
: look around. look within
Juby John Eipe
Anna Varghese
: the callousness with which many of us treat this issue is horrifying. Even within the Church, this exists to a very great extent. The caste divide and the class divide. Church moves from being a spiritual centre to a political space which satisfies the need for esteem and Self Actualization as put forward by Abraham Maslow.
Thomas Varghese
Sir....only self-esteem is what is appeased by the power hierarchy in parishes these days . One should explore the spiritual quotient of the religion he believes in order to reach the elite stage of the maslowian pyramid,,,,,,,sef actualization
Juby John Eipe
This self actualization need exists for all individuals regardless of their "Syrian" or "Dalit" background(s). The Church should facilitate the oneness. The attitude is: "I will help you, but i will not dine with you". Jesus said something else.
Thomas Varghese
Very true sir!...........any religious institution don't have the right to speak about facilitating the much more "intrinsic"aspect of self-actualization without demolishing the barriers the 've created in every indivudual achieving the rather "superficial" self-esteem needs. And as you've pointed out all religious systems (atleast in India) ve this double standards of "service"
Viji Varghese Eapen
Only to a certain extent can I agree to the fact that the system is same in the Church. Seeing it through the eyes of a CSI member, I can proudly claim that CSI could bring in a lot of positive differences. However, we need to travel a lot

In Kerala people from higher cast are reluctant to go to marriage of lover cast ..this is no dreadful news this system is very well existing …
Tanushri Guchhait
well said Juby :)
@Arun...buddy wot is a 'Lover' cast? :)
Arun Sivan
@ Tanu...oooppsss he he he sorry I meant lower sorry ....:) :) :) :)
Tanushri Guchhait
@Arun...just kidding buddy, i know it is a typographical error...btw when a mallu writes 'lower' as 'lover' it goes very well...apt with the accent :)
Juby John Eipe
I think language and accent are also tools for discrimination :)
Tanushri Guchhait
Oh Juby pls dnt get me wrong here...that was just for fun no such intention of discrimination on my mind
Juby John Eipe
Viji Varghese Eapen
: These "positive differences" that you see and their extent is debatable.
Juby John Eipe
Tanushri Guchhait
: Even though it was nothing more than a joke here, outside this thread, we tend to judge people by their language and accent.
Arun Sivan
precisely ..
Viji Varghese Eapen
Debatable when differences lead to discrimination. No need to be debated when differences are respected.
Tanushri Guchhait
@Juby & Arun...i do agree with u but not between friends i believe and the comment was meant for a friend nothing more!
Arun Sivan
:):):)
Juby John Eipe
Viji Varghese Eapen
: But dont u think that the ongoing experiment of India should ve reached this ideal of respecting differences long ago? Caste issue is one where this respect for the difference ideology will not work. The issue is such a negative thing. To accept the existence of it and to consciously work together for the eradication of it is what we can do.
Juby John Eipe
To not educate our children the divinity of various castes would be the first step. To open our doors to others the next.
Viji Varghese Eapen
true
Abhilash Jose
It's noteworthy that that's what Jesus called this Canaanite woman and her daughter. When she came to Him and begged that He heal her daughter, He said,
"It is not right to take the children's bread
and toss it to their dogs."
he he he jesus himself was a fundamentalist and believer of cast system.

First and foremost I request a total BAN on all political parties based on religion and community, but for those based on a principle and ethic like communism or democracy. Secondly BAN all community media channels. Politicised media propaganda is the worst thing our country might face in future. It is an irony that today politics and religion had become the job of jobless people.
